SJKim’s 2009 Championship board breaking highlights
Congratulations to all of the champions on a day of excellent demonstrations and sportsmanship. The official list of results can be found on Grandmaster Kim’s school website.
In regards to competition, Grandmaster Kim also posted the following on his website:
It is important for students to compete, whether it is on a friendly inter-school level, regional level or national level. Competition gives the student an opportunity to perform under pressure and in a different and more stressful environment.
Those who try will always be a step ahead of those who sit back and watch. Not only is concentration and fighting spirit developed with competition, but the preparation required to compete will also teach the student how to practice with sharper focus and the more immediate need for performance.
Win or lose, those who challenge themselves with competition will always emerge on a different level and understand more about their art and themselves.
